Essay man and son
Isolation, loneliness, and being abandon can lead to one doing ruthless acts that they might have
never thought they are capable of. However when under difficult circumstances, certain actions
are sometimes necessary for one to survive hardship and to protect loved ones. Survival is when
a person endures many obstacles and continues to live or exist, typically in spite of the difficult
circumstances they passed through. In Cormac McCarthy’s The Road
the Man, we see how the
son ignores as well as harm those around them in order to protect one another because survival is
the main objective the novel is striving to portray. Similarly the man, in order for him to survive
and protect his son from harm, chooses to ignore as many people as he could and is willing to
inflict harm if needed.
