Is MIS that important?
At the beginning of the chapter in our first reading assignment, the author makes what
most would see as a bold claim. That claim being, “MIS is the most important course you will
take in studying business.” At first glance one may respond skeptically to this claim, but having
gone through the first chapter of this textbook, as the song goes, now I’m a believer. It all
started with the digital revolution, a turning point after the 1970s switching mechanical and
analog over to digital, Gordan Bell’s law.
Bell’s Law states that every ten years a new computer class takes the stage that changes
what we do and how we do it, so why is this relavent? It is because, we are in a stage of
