teenagers, on the contrary my experience is that hostel life is quite interesting, full of learning
experience, enthusiastic and has the potential to groom one’s personality. ostel is a place where a
diverse group of people, usually students, belonging to different regions, and cultures live together.
Hostels are superintended by an authoritative administration which ensures the discipline, security, and
the rights of the students in the hostel. Students opt to live in a hostel when the distance between their
home and the institution in which they are enrolled is so great that it becomes difficult to go to the
institution on daily basis. A stereo type exists that hostel life is not good for youngsters because they
might get involved in non-ethical, illegal, inappropriate, illogical and unapproved activities such as
smoking, gun point robbery, Wastage of time with friends and in other useless activities. Some hold that
hostel life is boring because it confines a student to his room and demotivates creativity and artistic
talents. It is believed that day scholars, students who attend school during the day and live at home, give
more preference to studies as compared to hostel students provided that they are reinforced and
directed by their parent’s to study and spend time in useful activities. Owing to that, it is held that day
scholars are comparably more talented than students living in hostels. Some other arguments against
hostel life entail that hostels don’t have strict rules, no specific routine of food and rest and that there
are inconsiderate students who might cause problems for the students who H 2 actually want to study
by creating disturbance. Hostels can drag a person away from their religion while ragging also remains a
big issue in hostels. My opinions regarding a hostel, on the other hand, are completely different based
on my experience. Life in a hostel is much more exciting and fuller of lessons as compared to a life in
home because students living in hostels get a new environment and independent life. I think the hostel’s
environment is totally educational, peaceful, and pleasant. The benefit of hostel life is that students
develop great intimacy and joyful atmosphere among themselves. The misconception about hostel is
that there are no strict rules, but my experience tells me that there are many strict rules which must be
followed by all the students. In complete contradiction to the criticism that there is no routine in
hostels, there is a regular daily routine for students regarding rest and study timings. Socializing and
communication skills enhance in hostels because one must live and deal with new people from different
