1.What are the four powerful principles of college success? Give an example
of each.
Active Involvement – Participating in class discussions, attending school functions and extra curricular
activities, taking good notes in class, and completing studying and homework assignments outside of
the classroom.
Using Campus Resources – Utilizing the textbook, using the online classroom database (blackboard),
the library, the wifi cafe, communicating with the academic advisor, student development services,
disability services, financial aid. All these resources exist and should be taken advantage of. Other
Important resources would include engaging the professor during the office hours and in post class
discussions.
Interpersonal Interaction and Collaboration – Examples include talking with the professor after class
hours, engaging with peers in collaborative work, contributing to class discussions, building a report
with the professor, and participating in study teams outside of class.
Personal Reflection and Self Awareness – This means having effective self assessment and personal
reflection of one’s own progress so as to honestly assess whether your learning strategy is working or
not.
