What is the role of public education and/or charter schools in promoting
democratic ideals and the pursuit of equality of educational
opportunities? Speculate about how you think that these responses are
mediated by your personal experiences, race, social class and gender? In Part II
of your response, please respond directly to the film, "Waiting for
Superman." What emotions does it evoke? Are charter schools a challenge to
the integrity of public schools or is there a "place" for both charter and traditional
