1. Define HIV.
• HIV is a virus that can cause AIDS as well as interfere with a body’s ability to fight off illnesses.
2. Define AIDS.
• AIDS is a serious disease that comes from catching HIV first. Aids causes a severe destruction of
the body’s immunity, which increases the risk of suffering from other illnesses which can be very
harmful.
3. Just because someone is HIV positive, does that mean they will develop AIDS? Explain your answer.
• If someone is HIV positive, then more than likely they will catch aids on down the road.
Everyone gets the disease differently. Some with HIV get AIDS weeks or months after catching
HIV, but in other cases people don’t get AIDS until years later. It all depends on how the person
with the illness keeps themselves up.
4. HIV is what type of virus?
• HIV is a type of virus that attacks the immune system, weakening certain cells in the body that
are supposed to help fight off illnesses.
