Equal Employment Opportunity means employers are free from being discriminated
against the protected classes which are race, color, sex, religion, age, genetic information and
national origin. This is meant to give everyone an equal chance to work by prohibiting specific
discrimination in workplaces. EEO protects employees and actually applicants as well from
unfair treatment because of any of the categories that are protected. This is something very
important and beneficial if employers are follwoing it. Employees and applicants want to feel
like they are being treated fairly and equal as one another. They want to feel safe in their
workplace, not judged.
