The Impact of Climate Change on the World’s Marine Ecosystems addresses a
multitude of issues surrounding climate change caused by anthropogenic means in marine
ecosystems and how these areas of concern affect various defining characteristics within
marine ecosystems. With a growing list of possible responses to climate change, marine
ecosystems are facing several over-arching dangers from an increasingly warmer climate
that terrestrial ecosystems are less likely to be affected by. Effects such as rising
ecosystems, changing ocean and wind patterns, and a greater spread of “exotic” species are
just a sample of the numerous amount of rising concerns from an increasingly warmer
planet and with little protection against it, marine ecosystems are headed towards
irreversible transformation in both shape and function.
