Case Study
Identify and describe three ethical issues from the documentary
The first ethical issue is the Vahalla scandal. During this ethical issue two traders bet on the rise
and fall of oil. The traders took money and put it in their private accounts. They admitted they moved
company profits to their personal accounts. When it was told, what happened the CEO decided to do
nothing because it was the only part of the company making money.
Another ethical issue was when Enron said that they were going to offer a broadband service
and that the technology was good. They told everyone that the service would be revolutionary and
would work great. The technology wasn’t any good and it would never make any money but they made
it look like they made 53 million.
The last ethical issue was when the CFO used multiple companies to hide the debt that the
investors couldn’t see. It made it seems that Enron had money but the debts were being hidden. He was
aware of what he was doing and he even used one of the companies to take money for himself.
Give an example of Immoral, Amoral and Moral management practices at Enron.
An immoral management practice at Enron was when the executives would purchase the
company’s stock and then dump it to make a large profit. Many of the managers made millions
