Technology: The Savior or the Killer
In society, one learns that we must learn to coexist. Society has to coexist with people of
different ethnic backgrounds, different religions, and even different animals. One thing we must
also coexist with would be technology. Technology is very intricate, and can be viewed in
several lights. “Technology is fundamentally changing the way we live, work, relate to one
another and to the external world. The speed, breadth and depth of current breakthroughs has no
historical precedent and is disrupting almost every sector in every country. Now more than ever,
the advent of new technology has the potential to transform environmental protection” (Lamber
2-5). Some may agree that technology will be the entity that saves us, while others feel as though
technology will eventually take over and destroy us all. While each party has their reasons for
believing this, sources prove that there are ways to come to common ground. All in all,
technology is a resource that can been viewed as a saving grace and a downfall to humanity
simultaneously
There are some who believe that technology can threaten nature. Some studies go against
this theory. In fact, some sources even prove that technology can help the environment. “The
possibilities for technology partnerships to reboot nature are endless. Our challenge now is to
scale this work beyond a few test sites and into all of the places we are working to protect the
planet” (Lamber 44-46). Based on this quote, one could infer that it is best for humans to work
side by side with technology. In reality, there are some things that humans just can’t do. This

showcases what seems to be a need for technology. This is especially the case as the world
continues to advance.
Some studies also suggest that technology also helps create new ways of thinking. New
methodizes are able to spring forward according to John Maeda. “John Maeda, the chief

machines will have surpassed the processing power of all the living human brains on Earth. The
cloud will also have absorbed the thinking of the many dead brains on Earth, too – and we all
need to work together to survive. So I predict that we will see a lasting cooperation between the
human race and the computational machines of the future” (Hern 33-38). According to his
beliefs, technology makes it much easier for humanity to thrive. This makes it easier for reality
