Renowned comedian, Steve Carell once said “Nothing in this world; feels as good to me as
laughing incredibly hard”. This suffices that funniness establishes a tactic of propaganda
and effective advertisement. Abstractly speaking, it has been noted that laughing is
commonly thought to warms people’s hearts and directors have found that it captivates the
souls of their audience. When exploring the foundations of cinema, elements of humor can
be found in most genres of film. Wit can provide ease to situations and erratic behavior can
offer distraction. It is a very important component of movie making. Comedy is itself a
genre in which its main emphasis is on hilarity and to entertain the audience with puns,
exaggeration of reality and ridicule. It is intended to humorously embellish circumstances
and to create laughter in the audience by making fun of the frustrations of life in films. A
comedy is a chief genre with sub- categories. Some of these include Romantic Comedies,
Spoof Comedies, and slap-stick comedies. Typical comedic endings are happy but that is
unusual for the Black Comedy. They tend to lean towards taboo subjects of death, suicide
and war. Comedy films are very broad in its classifications but all have an underlying
purpose of sharp entertainment and to excite the funny bone of its viewers. Some of the
first movies to be seen in public theatres were comedies, they began to be appreciated
around the early 1900’s and was one of the most entertaining undertakings of the time.
