Things Fall Apart
In today’s modern government it’s clear we’ve taken inspiration from other cultures. This
is why many other government systems pose similarities to our system, such as the ibo. In the
historical fiction novel, “Things fall apart”, Chinua Achebe uses his writing and sense of emotion
with every flip of a page to describe the lives of the ibo and how their government systems and
traditions functioned as a civilization in the late 1800s. Achebe exemplifies many characteristics
of the Ibo such as their tradition and government system, seeming to pass through different
generations everlasting, and continuous. Following the ways of the tribe, we are introduced to
our main character, one of the most valued men in the village, Okonkwo. While Okonkwo is the
