“The world is a book, and those who do
not travel read only a page” (Augustine). Out of
all of Iowa States’ organizations only one was
founded purposely to give you the chance to
explore and expand your horizons not only
culturally but personally as well. This
Organizations’ name is the Study Abroad
Center. The Study Abroad Center and it is a
small office located at the Memorial Union is
host to numerous study abroad programs
students can select. They have programs all
around the world; from the breathtaking
sceneries Greece has to offer, to the vast nature
New Zealand possesses, or even the spiciness South America has to offer.
The Study Abroad Center has made it its vision to expose Iowa State
Students to international competence for the greater good of society. Its mission is
to develop substantive international learning adventures; promote inclusive,
affordable opportunities; prepare students and program directors for successful
learning abroad; advance the highest standards of safety abroad; uphold best prac-
tices in the field of international education; and collaborate with campus offices
and academic units to ensure quality programs and services. (“Mission/Reports.”

Iowa but the nation and the world as well as the Study Abroad
Center.
Interestingly enough the Study Abroad Centers’ mission relates to the Iowa State
University Strategic Plan. Iowa States’ Strategic Plan incorporates the following mission:
Create, share, and apply knowledge to make Iowa and the world a better
place. We must prepare the leaders of our nation and the world. To make the
world a better place, Iowa State will call upon its great strengths in student-
centered education, global collaboration, and transformational basic and applied
research. Iowa State will be a magnet for attracting outstanding students who seek
an education that prepares them to make a difference in the world.(Strategic
Plan 2010-2015. Ames: Iowa State University, 18 Aug. 2010. PDF.)

mission because both want to achieve the same end goal which is achieve the greater good of
