Term Project Part Two
Fallen Leaf Returns To Roots
“Raising my head to gaze at the boundless grey clouds,
That season is called loneliness.
My sack is stuffed with household tools,(My friend’s body is on the back,)
Thus begins my journey.”
Wu was a young man born in a little poor northern countryside. After he was
about the age to get into society, he traveled to a southern city and worked for
somebody with his childhood best friend, Jie. Days were difficult enough for them to
survive, however, as if putted more oil into fire in this damn hot season, Jie passed
away in the workplace because of exhausted. Thus, Wu made up his mind, that he
wanted to carry the body of Jie back to their hometown.
In the very beginning of the journey, Wu pretended Jie as a drunkard and
successfully got on to a long-distance-travel bus which might take them home.
Unfortunately, on their way they met a group of bandits. The head of them used a trap
that made a fake accident and pretended in need. When one of the bandits wanted to
search the money in Jie’s pocket, Wu tried his best to protect it, which was a
compensatory payment for Jie’s death. This behavior made the boss angry and came
to fight Wu. At the same time, Wu had no choice but chose to tell the truth to the boss.
The boss admired Wu, said that Wu was a true man and returned all of the money he
hijacked in the bus. Then, the boss took off his shirt. In his back, there were three red
words—-a fake man. Sadly to know that the boss betrayed his friends before so that
he got this bloody honer. Nevertheless, although Wu saved a whole bus money, but
due to the body, he was thrown out of the bus.
Wu begun to block cars in the highway for a convenience. He pretended Jie as a
deeply sick man needed to go to hospital. Luckily, he met a truck driver who was
willing to drive them a way. They told about their lives. The truck driver said that, he
bought this truck to earn money for his lover, but when he came back, he could not
find her. From the passengers, he knew that she was married to a rich guy and move
to a big city. At that moment, he suddenly lost his goal. Wu said, since you had
already drive thirty thousand miles, why not another thirty thousand to find her back.
This sentence wakened the driver up, so he drove Wu and Jie to a hospital located in
the next town.
Wu was tired to move a body all the day, so he found a shabby inn for a rest.
After a night, Wu got up and found out that all his money was stolen. He was so sad,
but nothing could sway the mind of him. He did not want to touch Jie’s money,
instead, he pretended Jie as a beggar to solve the money problem.
Not that many people wanted to show their mercy, while Wu was about starving.
He got an idea when he looked at Jie, the dead! He could tried to cry for somebody’s
death and ask for a little return. He found out a old man was conducting a funeral for
his wife. Father no children, nobody was their to help the old man. So, Wu knelt in
front of the body and tried to cry. Things happening together made his fake tears into
