As the core components needed to run a company has evolved, so has the functions of
Human Resource Management (HRM). The Human Resource (HR) field over the years has
grown from records keeping to having a multitude of concentration areas. Human Resource
Management is “the process of hiring and developing employees so that they become more
valuable to the organization” (Business Dictionary, 2019). Human Resource Management
professionals’ duties include determining personnel needs and requirements, training, conducting
job analyses, managing pay, performance assessments, providing benefits and compensation,
employee communication, and employee conflict resolution. Staffing, compensation and
benefits, and employee relations are three HRM areas of concentration if find to be significant to
understand their function, career opportunities, and challenges.
The staffing role of an HR professional has many significant functions that can lead to
