Emotions are part of our everyday existence a,ecting our state of mind, performance,
health, and energy. Recent research suggests that “all of our decisions are emotionally based,
and that logic is used to provide a rational explanation for whatever decision is taken” (Judge &
Kammeyer, 2012, p. 4). This statement leaves to question if it’s realistic to be able to drop your
problems at the door when you arrive for work. “Everybody brings their emotions to work. You
bring your brain to work. You bring your emotions to work. Feelings drive performance. They
drive behavior and other feelings. People are emotion conductors” (Brief & Weiss, 2010, p. 3).
Emotions are unavoidable and they influence work behavior and outcomes. The notion that
emotions influence work performance is not new, but linking emotions to work performance,
