Emotional Intelligence

For several decades, the concepts of cognition and emotions have been understood and

analyzed separately. In most instances, emotion has been regarded as a simple human feeling,

while cognition is a complex element of the human psyche (Gutiérrez-Cobo, Cabello, &

Fernández-Berrocal, 2017a). In recent years, however, researchers have strived to explore the

correlation between the two constructs. Besides, attempts have been made to examine the

complex bidirectional link between cognition and emotion (Gutiérrez-Cobo et al., 2017a). The

trend has resulted in the emergence of the term emotional intelligence (EI), which relates to the

capability of a person to recognize emotions to attain a high state of contemplation (Gutiérrez-

Cobo, Cabello, & Fernández-Berrocal, 2017b). It is also worth stating that EI revolves around
