There Isnt an App for Emotional Intelligence
The assigned excerpt “Education” from 21 Lessons for the 21st Century is basically about
the technology and our inability to control or keep up with it altogether. Beginning with our
modern education system, Harari explains the difficulties teachers face in the current
technological climate. Teachers fight against the constant stream of data fed to us through
commercials, social media, and celebrities but do so through exposing us to their stream of data.
Our current education system’s problem is that we are more often taught to think for ourselves
without teaching us quality life skills that would help us outside of what an app on our phone can
provide. For example, when I was in grade school, we were continuously told by our
Mathematics teacher that we need to solve the problems in our heads because we would not
always have a calculator within reach. This is proven untrue with the smartphone’s invention,
