Emoji Narrative
In an ideal world we and the things we love would all be independent and thriving, but
we remain in reality, as tasteless as it is. As a newly independent young woman, I have come to
learn many things about myself and those around me, such as the overbearing weight of finances
as I struggle to find my place on this expansive rock we call home. In high school, one of my
classes was called adult responsibilities; we learned to budget and complete other basic tasks in
the adult world. To my loss, the class was skewed in favor of upper class of students unlike
myself, who was there on scholarships and financial aid. This taught me my first lesson, ask for
financial advice from those in similar situations and not those who are given a credit card and
