In Case 2.2 Emerging Trends article the writer discussed how important it is for
companies to come up with plans that can help employees have more family time without
sacrificing his or her career. In the past, when an employee promotes through the ranks he or she
would have less family time and may end up working 6 to 7 days a week. With research done

common for job hunters would not take a job position because it was not their preferred work-
life balance. One solution to making more preferred work- life balance jobs is that an employee
can bargain for a more flexible work conditions. Examples of flexible work conditions can be
that the employee can have more flexible hours or even work from the home. This solution is
great for an employee who shows dependability, discipline, and self-motivation.
