Welcome the new Calle Ocho Books & Press
Miami is known to be such a diverse place to visit filled with many culture, but predominantly
Hispanics. Miami really is somewhere where if you only speak Spanish you will not have any
problems getting around, being that it is mostly Hispanic most of them are Cuban. Calle Ocho
Books & Press launched Oct. 23, 2017 and they have many options for any person who is
interested in fiction and literature about Cuba and South Florida.
What they have to offer
Since Calle Ocho Books & Press is an online bookstore is it extremely accessible. They also offer
reading tools such as the Amazon’s Fire and Kindle tablets, extensive library of videos on new
book titles and authors, streams the Latin sounds of WMIA-Miami, and carries news in the
South Beach section about Miami, including nightlife, dining, culture and entertainment and
opinion. They also feature a fine line of readers’ and writers’ supplies, including Kindles, lap
desks, book lights, bookshelves, desks, pens, pencils, highlighters and Post-Its.
“We devote a main section called Caliente to works from emerging writers living in South
Florida. They write in English and Spanish about life in the region.” said Donovan.

Calle Ocho Books & Press was founded by Michelle Donovan and Melissa Monter who are both
FIU graduates and Miami natives, Michelle’s grandparents came from Cuba and she still has
relatives there. Website gives authors and publishing houses of Cuban and South Florida fiction
a forum for publicizing and selling their newest works.
