Elevator Speech Outline
a. The assignment instructions/Introduction – (Cameron Harris) : Our assignment was to
create a speech to persuade a potential employer in joining their company. We were to tell them
who we were, our strengths and skills, and the type of position we were interested in. We
created an outline and completed activities to help formulate our Elevator Speech.
b. How the assignment was completed (Alyssa Lopez) – To reiterate, the point of the
elevator speech is to convey our skills, background, education, and interest in working
for the company. To complete such a speech, we had to fit all of this within a 1-2 minute
limit that was straight to the point, professional, and informational. The goal is to sell
yourself to the employer, and in order to have a great elevator pitch, you should always
be prepared just in case the opportunity arises. Having confidence in yourself and your
preparation creates an elevator pitch that captures the attention of potential employers
and leads to success. From a very technical standpoint, this assignment was completed
by recording our speeches into mindtap and ensuring professionalism through attire,
presentation, and following the prompt.
c. How the assignment was related to other activities – (Zahra Williams) : There are a few
activities that we did that helped prepare us for the elevator speech. The Nearpod video,
which was visual. It gave examples of what you should and shouldn’t do. The Flipgrid
allowed us to see what tips and advice that could encourage ourselves and other
students in being successful. And lastly the Mindtap activities; those were put in place to
boost our confidence in putting together our pitch.
d. What was negative or positive about the assignment – (Timothy Dortch) :While working
on this assignment, I couldn’t help but correlate it to the many walk-in interviews I did at
the Boys and Girls Club. Not only did those interviews help me with public speaking , it
also opened many doors for me and is still currently. This assignment will get you
