In the year of 1986 Vinod Jalan founded his own company ElectroChem, Inc. in the
pursuit of cutting-edge fuel cell technology. Years later in 1989 Vinod Jalan was diagnosed with
a heart condition; however, it wasn’t until 1992 that he suffered a fatal heart attack ending his
reign. After the death of Vinod Jalan, Radha Jalan, Vinod’s wife, was faced with two options
pertaining to ElectroChem: 1) sell ElectroChem to another fuel company, or 2) close the
company. It then crossed her mind that in this conversation, the accountant did not list the
option for her to run the company herself, but she chose to, regardless of the obstacles.
With this fuel giant, there are three main stakeholders that affect the company: NASA,
the Big Three Automobile Giants, as well as the environment. NASA depends on the company
as a reliable source of power for space shuttle missions. The Big Three Automobile Giants
depend on the company in the pursuit of ending the hundred-year reign of combustible engines
