Upon reading this article I have come to find out that a lot of Egypt old infrastructures is being
ripped apart to create new housing for the people illegally. The population before world war 2
was about 1 million and now today it’s up to 4.6 million people there no regulation in Cairo and
that leading to chaos in that area. Overall Egypt as a whole is home to 86 million people an
increase of 13 million since 2006 census. Egypt’s population mixed with politics and poorly
managed growth played a big part in failure to safeguard its heritage. After the revolt of
president Hosni Mubarak in 2011 lot of police and regulators disappeared and this cause an
uprising in illegal buildings throughout the country. On top of that major temples have been
robbed due to lax security. Between 1992 and 2013 developers started cutting corners and not
building properly causing killing of 1,566 people and 468 building collapsing in 2012-2013. I
noticed that since they have over population in the country they don’t know how to use the land
building on top of or around historic landmarks After reading this article I realized that we really
have it good hear in America, but unfortunately in Egypt there going through a rough patch with
bad government officials. Lack of work from the developers and pretty much everyone doing
whatever they want with a little bribe. In all the people must come together to create change or
they just going to destroy the land eventually.
