1. What are some of the features of this kind of education?
The education described in the reading is focused on boarding schools. Especially those
located in the United States that specialized in teaching Greek and Latin. This form of education
was known to be very formal; they required the students to read full books rather than a piece of
it. They also required their students to be fluent in dead languages because this would give them
the skills to go to university. Another feature is that their students took more classes than the
average person.
2. Consider your own education. Was it more similar or dissimilar to the education described in
this reading?
