Education Growth
The utilization of technology in education has seen a constant rise since the eighteenth
century. Increasingly, teachers are requesting their students to access technological sources to
help them learn and participate in a creative way. Technology has become an integral part of
classroom instruction now through the growing use of discussion boards and online textbooks; it
seems to be that teachers and parents must adapt every second because the technological
advances are so rapid. With the growing use of social networks amongst the internet, schools
have found many ways to incorporate that same concept with programs such as eLearning, which
allows for enhanced student collaboration and participation. However, it leaves individuals
concerned with rather or not it takes away valuable time from the traditional face-to-face
classroom, and it leaves individuals with many money restraints. The incorporation of an online
classroom has opened up a lot of new doors for students and teachers by increasing the potential
of education, utilizing e-learning platforms, and by allowing more students to participate all by
minimizing the negative classroom impact.
Online education has made many attempts to increase the potential of education through
a variety of methods. First and foremost, technology has made it possible to convey the same
message to a bulk amount of students in less time. Instead of teachers being the only source of
help in a classroom, students can now access web sites, online tutorials, and other assistance to
them. Nowadays, the education does not stop in the classroom because students have a lot more

options to gain assistance than just physically going into the school. Parents also have to adapt
now because teachers are shifting their grading procedures online. With the use of online grade
books, parents have the option to view and manage their child’s individual success by monitoring
accessible databases associated with their grades. Professors also have the convenience of
emailing a parent for easier interaction; at UMKC, an alert system is used when a student’s
grades have fallen below a certain levels. This gives the student the opportunity to improve the
quality of his or her work before it is too late. Most individuals tend to have a schedule lacking
availability. In an USNEWS article by Ryan Little, Alexander, a student, said, “The reason I took
online courses was because they were the only ones available, [and] with time commitments,
they worked for me.” The shift to online education is beneficial to a plethora of individuals; it
gives them a chance to acquire a more affordable and time manageable education. Online
