Romantic Traits in the Short Story
The Murders in the Rue Morgue is a story narrated by Edgar Allan Poe explaining an
unfortunate incidence that occurs where two women, Mrs. L’Espanaye and Mademoiselle
Camille are killed mercilessly in their home. The police investigate the crime scene and
incarcerate the wrong suspect, Adolphe Le Bon, until Dupin chips in to solve the cause of the
violent murders. Dupin establishes the perpetrator of the killings as a strange animal called
Orangutan, whom he eventually gets in contact with its owner, and gets first-hand
