Instructions of Exchange
The instructions given to Moses on Mount Sinai state that when making exchanges you
must be fair and just when trading with one another and that you must increase and decrease the
value of the land based on how many years the land is good for harvesting. What is really being
sold is the number of crops that the land is being able to produce. It is also stated that we must
not take advantage of one another when exchanging. These laws follow a standard of morality
that allow everyone to be treated with equality. This applies to today’s world because if we do
not conduct business fairly, many people could be cheated and could cause an unbalance in
wealth. It is ok to be wealthy as long as you obtain your wealth morally, and treating others with
equality. Overall, we must still obey the guidelines that were given to Moses in today’s society.
When a property decreases in value we must adjust the price according so, the same goes for it if
with equality and must do so when exchanging with others.
