According to RealtyTrac, between years 2013 – 2014, there were 2.48 million foreclosure
filings (Realtytrac Staff, 2015). After a drastic loss in income, increase in debt, and decrease in
personal credit rating, Dexters home was almost included in that statistic. On the verge of
losing his home, a colleague mentioned a popular website that allowed individuals to market a
home or room on the nightly basis. In desperate need of income, Dexter registered with the
website, and within the first month of listing, he generated $500. This allowed Dexter to pay his
mortgage. Eventually, he devised a marketing campaign that led to $7,000 in bookings within 3
days. With Dexters home no longer at risk of foreclosure, the realization of a new opportunity
emerged. He discovered foreclosure avoidance by leveraging his only asset in exchange for
