Essay 4.1
When it comes to creating a pencil, it is not simply the creating of the pencil it is the labor used
to create the railroads and boats that the wood is transferred on. It is also the labor of who creates the
machines that are used to create the pencil and lastly it the actual manufactures of the pencils have to
be counted for. With every item being produced separately it is in the management of different
individuals and has a different group of workers and machinery. There is no guarantee that a piece of
machinery will work 100% of the time and then they must rely on a maintance man to be present when
the item is not working.
If one company in unable to produce their good, then that can throw off the whole production
and sometimes it can literally be just one person who is the difference in an item being produced and
not being produced. If one part of the production line is not working, then it can mess with the whole
production line. If the railroads become broken, then there is no way to get the wood to the pencil
factory. If the machine that inserts the lead into the wood were to stop working then that will create a
halt to the production of the pencils.
