MNCs HOLD POWER OVER NATIONAL GOVERNMENTS 2
Introduction
Over the past few years it has been argued that multinational cooperation’s have been
holding more powers compared to national governments. Although MNCs stimulate economic
growth in different countries they operate in, it has been noted that they tend to exert some powers
over the countries they operate in. In addition, their control over the intellectual and technical
property used in the production of goods and services have aggravated their control over the
political entities they operate in (London and Hart, 2004, p.361). This essay focuses on the
argument that MNCs hold powers over the national governments in which they operate. Therefore,
it examines the existing theories explaining how MNCs controls state governments, regulatory
reforms, mechanisms used by MNCs, and the existing evidence of their control.
