Yes, the employers could have avoided these kinds of incidents. The company or the
employer must develop a solid governance framework for the employees that include
social media policy, guidance and training. Besides that, the IT department should also
prevent and limit the accessibility of social media accounts or mobile devices throughout
of company. This could also prevent the leakage of information and such incidents from
happening again.

Through my research, I have found out that there are two points in common in most of
these corporate social policies. Mostly under the social media policies, the corporate
company would like to draw a line that separates corporate and personal usage of social
media. Besides that, any activity that an employee used in the social media that could
affects the performance and the company’s business interests in considered violating the
social media policy of the company whether it is in or outside of the work. These two
points are the strongest points that I believe many of the firms should adopt to prevent
such incidents from happening and leakage of confidential information. On the other hand,
there is a concern in these social media policies where it gives the employers the authority
or rights to access the employee’s own privacy or your own privacy in these big firms. I
