Dynamic Studies for a Dynamic Country
Ethnic-studies programs that were being incorporated within the educational curriculum
in Arizona were banned in 2011 by state officials who found them to be “biased, politically and
emotionally charged.” Supporters of the program fought this decision and insisted that these
programs simply taught a portion of American history that are neglected which soon developed
into a legal battle over the administrative decision. In January of 2012, the decision to ban these
programs was found to be constitutional by federal judge due to the insistent standpoint from
supporters of the law that these courses were discriminatory and aimed towards radical elements
