Dress to Impress
Nathan Meinke
Specific Purpose: to persuade my audience that dressing well leads to success in a
business environment as well as other aspects of life.
Demographic/Context Information: I am a guest speaker in a classroom at a
university talking to students who are pursuing a Masters in Business
Administration. The audience ranges from 22- 40, majority of students between 25-
30. The audience includes all genders, different races and cultures, with differences
in levels of experience with dressing professionally.
Psychological Information: Most students do know it is somewhat important to
look professional, but aren’t really sure how important it is or the ways to do so. The
audience should be somewhat favorable, because I will correlate dressing well with
success. I assume most students want to be successful. The students are willing to
take the advice and try to better their knowledge of dressing well.
Ethos, Pathos, Logos: My ethos will come from scholarly sources and research done
on the topic and seeming prepared and profession. My use of pathos will come from
relating to the audience and telling real life stories to give a better understanding to
the audience. My logos will come from clear facts and good explanations behind
those facts.
