Dress code in Public schools
BEEP! BEEP! Your alarm goes off and it’s time for school, and you’re trying to figure
out what you’re going to attire. Certain people just go to school whatever they can find in their
closet, while others have a uniform ready to be at school. Some student agree with uniforms
while others think that it violates their personal rights and freedom of speech. Yes, dress code in
schools have drawn a very frenzied argument against student and parents forbidding of what a
student should wear in that specific school or district. I believe that more school should have
uniform in public schools for less gang viciousness, more restriction on what students wear, and
students become extra focused on the material for their future education.
Violence happens in our schools each day, that’s why we (as parents) must watch what
our children’s apparel to school each and every day. Gang affiliation clothing can be spotted very
easily; by observing at the colors, shoe laces clothing brands, logos, etc.[ CITATION Lis12 \l
1033 ]. Schools districts have looked in to the significance of how students come dress into
schools and see how much danger it puts them in. Items like hoodies, hats and bandannas are just
some of the clothing that teachers see some of these gang members wear. The real gang members
are changing their habits; they`re getting more capitalistic and smarter, and they don`t want to
draw as much attention to themselves he said. They are much more likely to use complicated
hand signals for identification than colors and symbols these days.

But for the younger suburban kids looking for trouble, “dressing to one side“ still means
something, as do certain color combinations. For example, wearing a single earring on a certain
side, and caps cocked to either the left or right, signifies allegiance to one of two major gangs.
Wearing blues or blacks in clothing, caps and even intertwined shoelaces proclaims affiliation to
one gang. Wearing an L.A. Raiders jacket will do the job, because it carries those colors. On the
other side, it`s black and gold or red, which qualifies Bulls jackets and L.A. Kings sports
paraphernalia[ CITATION Win91 \l 1033 ]
School districts set the guidelines of what students wear and what not wear. Whether it be
uniform or non-uniform, they’re certain guidelines that students have to follow for dress codes.
Otherwise students at some schools won’t be allowed in to school. Like for example in San
Antonio I.S.D. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE IN DISTRICT APPROVE UNIFORM. Otherwise
