I did not know that the American racism history has much in common with Brazilian. As we can
see the abolished of slavery happened in 1865 with the 13th amendment. In Brazil it happened in
1888 with Princess Isabel. Although that should be an act of freedom and change of the times it
did not integrated that wave of people with the population. The act of freedom people was not
made because people changed their mind and understand that every human is equal under the
law. It was an act of pressure and economic measures, once the salaried workers were cheaper
for the employer than a slave. After “release” all these people they have no place to go. Beyond
that the black people had no family history, they were brought from all over the world as a
merchandise and have no record about what happen with the other family members. Just like in
Brazil the solution called freedom raised other problems that were not properly corrected with
the enactment of the law. So the new freedmen were increasingly marginalized and the end of
slavery was nothing more than purely a change in the law. The govement never wanted to
created mesuares to integrate these people, contraty to that the same way it was in Brazil these
institutions wanted to end with the black people. In the United States the solution was to send the
black people to the jail, there they could be legally forced to work. It was another form of
slavery, another way to legalized this practice. In Brazil the racism is different than here, it is
mitigated, people try to keep it out of the spotlights. This is so said, because my country is
formed mainly by the mixture of races. I think I will never understand how that could be
possible. The racism has been changing over the years but it still there, like happened in the
video this racist people try to find way creating laws that will only affect the black and poor
community. Year after year no president want face the problem in fact, integrated people,
socilized and educated, they just want to be more rigid. As everyone can see this is not solving
the issue, its just benefiting who controls and profits from the prison system. Unfortunately, it
always been all about money. I believe more people now are willing to join the cause because
after all this terible accidents black people start to show their power. Asking for rights,
implementing mandatory courses on afro culture. Only through education can we slowly combat
racism. because for me racism and a stance of ignorance and only one race should really be
considered, the human race.
