Title: Blood Donation saves the life.
Topic: Blood Donation
General-purpose: To Persuade
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to donate blood even it is rare blood when they are
still healthy and full of resistance to save people’s life and our life.
I. Introduction:
A. Your attention grabber:
Myself is a clear and specific example for me to choose this topic. My blood type is AB RH .
According to the MedicineNet news, AB RH is the rarest blood type in the USA, there is only
0.6% of the United States population who have this kind of blood (Allarakha, 2020). My blood
type is genetic, gene A from my father and gene B from my mother. The important thing is that I
can only receive blood from someone who has the same blood type as me, but this blood type is
very rare. Therefore, it will be very dangerous for me if I meet an accident. And I know that people
with rare blood types like me are very afraid for their own lives.
B. Clarify the goal of your writing topic:
Donating blood affects more lives than some people realize, it can save many lives. This is a topic
that everyone should be interested in.
C. Relate the issue to your audience:
Life and death are separated by only a small line. People who are dying from anemia or who need
blood for a successful surgery could be your loved one or your friend.

transfusion each year (Community Blood Center). It means there are about 12 thousand people or
more who need blood each day.
