At the beginning of the play it seems that Nora and her Husband are quite happy
together. But as the play goes on you see start to see how Torvald treats Nora, he refers to
her as his “doll” frequently. He seems to treat her as if she is his child rather than his
wife. On one occasion, unknowingly to Torvald, she borrowed a large amount of money
so that he could recover from over working himself, which caused him to fall ill. She was
given a loan from a man that her husband works closely with, from which she kept a
secret from Torvald. We later find out after Korgstad has threated to tell Torvald that not
only did Nora take out a loan from him, but that she also forged her father’s signature to
get it if she does not tell her husband not to fire Korgstad. Nora attempts to talk her
husband out of not getting rid of Korgstad, but Torvarld simply sees his wife as a poor
