At a certain point we have all wondered whether or not an “absolute perfect being”
existed and if so, how would it be called. Would it be God? We all believe in something, but do
we really know if they are an absolute perfect being? Aquinas presented three arguments: the
first-cause argument and two more that are all part of the cosmological argument (argument from
contingency). Aquinas was known as a monk that used reason and logic to find the existence of
God. I believe that Aquinas’s argument about his conclusion that our universe must have had a
first cause to be convincing. Based on my reading, I can state that Aquinas’s argument is
convincing because 1) he presents five ways of figuring out whether God exists or not, 2) In The
Five Ways, Aquinas does not assume that God is an absolute perfect being, and 3) he sways to a
deeper understanding about the beginning of everything.
