Greetings everyone!
My name is Lubwela Nguomoja, I am from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I love playing the
guitar in my free time. I play the guitar in church as well. I am majoring in business administration. In this
class I am hoping to learn more and to get a better understanding about macroeconomics.
While I was reading about the principles of economics I found a lot of them very interesting but I will just
talk about two which are the first two, people face tradeoffs and the cost of something is what you give
up to get it. The first principal of economics was very interesting to read because I found some of the
interesting phrase like "To get something that we like, we usually have to give up something else that
we also like. Making decisions requires trading off one goal against another." (Para. 1) This a fact
because it has happened to me once in real life. I actually have many situation that I have faced
tradeoffs but I will pick one only. I remember almost 4 years ago when I had to make a dificult decision
between playing soccer and joining choir. I use to love playing soccer but I also enjoyed listening the
guitar when the guitarists in our church start playing for the choir. So, I decided to join choir because I
wanted to learned the guitar. That is the tradeoff I once faced in my life.
The second principle of economics which is the cost of something is what you give up to get it. This also
was very interesting to read because it does happen a lot in real life. When I first thought about going to
college I was asking myself where I will get the money for tuition. So, while reading this I learned that
the cost of going to college is the amount of money that you will give up to get in college.
1. The large bureaucratic organizations which I have had a contact that has not responded flexibly to
customer demands is the IRS. The Internal Revenue Service is a very poor organization in responding to
its customers because whenever I try to call them they make me wait for more than 20 minutes before
they can answer my call. One time I tried to go in their office to address my concerns but I couldn't even
enter their office. They told me that they go by appointment only and I ask if I can make an appointment
in the office. Therefore, they said appointment are made by only which was very frustrating to me. I
think the IRS need to hire more people to answer phone calls from their customers. The are a lot of
organization that have satisfactory responsiveness. Some of examples of an organization that have
