DOCTOR FAUSTUS
Doctor Faustus is a dramatic story written by Christopher Marlowe during the sixteenth century. While
most of his predecessors wrote dramas in rhymed verse, Marlowe was the first to use blank verse;
verses without rhyme, usually in iambic pentameter. The main character, John Faustus, an intellectual
man bored with conventional knowledge has reached a plateau. He is bored with his library and wishes
to research the occult, necromancing specifically. As a result, a demon named Mephistopheles appeared
