Do Open and Concealed Carry Laws Affect Crime Rates?
Gun control in the United States has been a very controversial and debated topic
for quite some time now. Anti-gun control advocates see gun control as unlawful dues to the
second amendment. They think everyone should be allowed to own a firearm if they choose too.
Gun control advocates believe that obtaining a firearm is too easy and stricter gun laws should be
created and enforced. I find the gun control debate very interesting so I decided to do some
research on the topic. On February 1st, 2017, I created a survey to gather data that would aid in
my research. The survey was created using the Toluna website, “quicksurveys.com,” and titled,
“Do Open and Concealed Carry Laws Affect Crime Rates?” With the aid of class discussion, I
was able to come up with 18 questions aimed to capture demographic data and opinions of the
