Should Animals Have Rights?
We live in a society where many individuals argue over their specific rights. Some
include African American rights, Women rights, LGBT rights, etc. Animals cannot fight for their
own rights like us humans can. Philosophical theories are used to decide whether something is
ethically right or ethically wrong. The utilitarian theory would be in the greatest benefit of
humans and the deontology theory would be in benefit of animals when looking at animal rights.
Animal rights are benefits people give to animals. Benefits are the right of protection
from human abuse. Three times a day we face the moral question of which animals we are or are
not going to eat. We consume products that are made by being tested on animals (Ethics: Theory
and Contemporay Issues). Our lives are wrapped around the lives of animals. Regulations for
animal care and prevention of animal cruelty are in place by the U.S. legal system. Animals have
