Divorce is so common nowadays that we do not put much thought into it. The
effects it can have on people are beyond imaginable, especially on children as they have
not yet discovered their identity and are much more vulnerable than adults. What can
lower the negative sides divorce can have on children? The law of child support
obligations is one of the several solutions. In my paper, I will provide a thorough
description and analysis of this law. I will begin by covering the factual part of the law
such as the description of custody and the law of “child support obligations”, the
application of the law, as well as many aspects pertaining to the violation of it. I will then
proceed to the analysis of this law from the structural-functionalist point of view by
describing how it works in keeping society together in a stable manner, providing
