When I was around ten years old I used to gather up all my teddy bears and toys, sit on a
chair by my computer desk and pretend that I was a news anchor reading the news to my
toys. I always knew that I wanted to work in the news environment. CBS news was my
go-to news station that I would watch with my father, for endless hours. Seeing Katie
Couric, Dan Rather, Bob Schieffer or Michelle Miller made my eyes light up because I
knew that’s where I want to be in the future. Not because they were on TV but because
these news correspondents delivered stories and evidence that were happening around the
world to millions of people just like me. With this internship at CBS it can teach me
fundamental newsgathering skills and also help pursue my dream goal of working at CBS.
I eat sleep and breath broadcast journalism. If something were happening around me at the
moment the inner journalist in me would want to take out my camera and instantly report
what is happening. I know my friends would call that weird, but it’s what I love to do. CBS
news is known for its hard work in delivering stories to their audiences. This shows that
this station cares about its audiences, which is somewhere that I would want to work at.
