Diversity Management
Classim is a topic that one cannot avoid speaking about when it comes to diversity.
Throughout the readings and presentations there were a handful of information that I obtained to
have a better understand of what classim is. Classim is prejudice against or in favor of people
belonging to a particular social class (Harvey, 2014), with that being said it is also important to
understand who it effects and the information that needs to be considered when speaking on it.
Throughout this paper I will be discussing what I learned from the readings, what I learned
through my own research, and what my interviewee had to say about the questions I put forth. I
interviewed my roommate Megan Kilroy. Megan is 23-year-old bi racial female, whose mother
is African American and father is Caucasian. She grew up in California and came to Minnesota
to play soccer. Miss, Kilroy graduated with her bachelor’s degree and is in route to completing
her master’s in business administration degree from Southwest Minnesota State University.
Although there were many different people I felt I could interview I believed that with Megan’s
background and educational level would bring special insight to my paper.

article from the Brookings Institution (Reeves, 2011), poverty described as having ill health,
feeling isolated, and insecurities among many others in the article Five evils: Multidimensional
poverty and race in America” (authors name and year) explained five dimensions of poverty
which are, education, concentrated spatial poverty, health insurance, employment, and household
income. The article stated that “almost 50% of the adult population suffers from at least one of
the five disadvantages and almost 25% have two or more disadvantages.” (Cite). Although
