According to the film, securing the border will affect the issue of undocumented
immigration by preventing illegal immigrants from entering the U.S. in the first place.
According to proponents of this idea, without illegal aliens crossing our borders, there will
be more economic prosperity, less taxing of our welfare system and other resources.
This idea is a pull factor and a push factor. Many illegal immigrants are crossing borders to
escape from poverty and crime. However, there is also a great pull factor of increased
wages, better opportunity and a higher standard of living.
Pathway to legalization would offer a better solution to undocumented immigration. This
is a pull factor because it would allow immigrants to have a legal way to gain citizenship.
They would be attracted to legally entering the country because of the advantages offered
through an organized program.
