Discussion Questions
1. What do brands mean to you? What are your favorite brands and why? Check to see how your
perceptions of brands might differ from those of others.
A brand to me is what a company stands for. If a company has a good CSR I will be more likely to use
their products. For example, I love Coke over Pepsi I enjoy the taste (even though I feel they both taste
alike) but I really enjoy what the coke-cola company stands for. I am also a Microsoft fan over Apple, my
reason is I enjoy the ability to customize programs. From the people I spoke with they have mixed
feelings on who they like more for the products and not the company themselves.
3. Can you think of anything that cannot be branded? Pick an example that was not discussed in each of
the categories provided (services; retailers and distributors; people and organizations; sports, art, and
entertainment) and describe how each is a brand.
Services; Taxi driver – an example is Uber whose drivers distinguish themselves with the logo of Uber on
their car allowing people to know that they work for Uber.
retailers and distributors; Truck Drivers – distribute company goods to their respected stores. So Wawa
has its own brand of tea and uses its drivers to distribute throughout each area with Wawa on the truck
and the product showing the brand.
people and organizations; Clothing – people and organizations both can display their brand logo on
articles of clothing for people to see their brand.
any scandal’s or the economy is down, then people can and will buy another companies product either
for price or for the companies values.
