Discussion Board #8- Chapters 29 & 30
Chapter 29-
1. Briefly the history and characteristics of Inventions and some of the most
common interventions in one to two paragraphs.
It was thought that an individual had to ‘hit bottom’ to make them see and realize that
they needed help. The Johnson Model changed the idea of ‘hitting rock bottom’ instead
he was in favor of early intervention since for some who hit bottom, the bottom could be
death or jail where it’s impossible or unlikely to be helpful in any
way.
There are many interventions including: Non-medical interventions, counseling, group
therapy, family, and couples counseling. And medication-based interventions. for drugs
and alcohol. Self-Help Programs: SMART Recovery, Women for Sobriety, Secular
Organizations for Sobriety/Save Our Selves, and Moderation Management. Most
common types of intervention are; family centered, legal, court mandated, employer
mandated, and involuntary intervention.
