Different processes were involved in the Project planning considering the
knowledge area. Knowledge areas like scope, time, cost, quality, human
resource; communications risk and Procurement were considered.
ResNet 1996 Planning:
Due to the success of the ResNet Beta Project and ResNet 1995 project the
whole team had a wealth of information to prepare a plan for 1996 project.
They were able to define the scope, time, cost and other dimensions. They
focused on
• Cost estimates
• Human Resource and Communications Planning
• Quality, Risk and Procurement Planning.
Outcomes:
NWA ResNet team used Microsoft project to assist in project planning. They
developed Gantt Charts and set mile stone dates that allowed them to establish
realistic schedules and helped them meet their goals. NWA empathized the
outputs for human resource and Communications planning and Quality, risk and
procurement planning. They created templates for communicating project
information and they set up shared network drives for all the project
information. NWA relied on the advice from their primary software vendor,
Quanta to mitigate the risks in the planning. They followed the Quantas
approach to reduce software development risks.
